learning to drive the machine

The Workshop

Nobody is born knowing what to do with a computer. So we start at the start: the pointer, the screen, the files. Each bench teaches one thing the machine expects you to know — and the magpie leaves a Witcoin every time you learn one. There's no race. There's only finding out which button does what.

The desktop — a bigger machine

You're on a Chromebook: quick, cloud-first, everything lives in a tab or in your Drive. Once you can drive it, the desktop opens up — same skills, more pedals. The Chromebook is the bike; the desktop is the car.

  • A real desktop you can drop files onto — not just the Files app.
  • A Recycle Bin that lives right there, not buried inside an app.
  • Programs you install (not just tabs and web apps).
  • A real right mouse button — no two-finger tap needed.
Opens when you've learned all five Chromebook benches.
